Alternative To High-Risk, High-Priced Meds

 Alternative To High-Risk, High-Priced Meds
Issue #1 - March 2010
AT THE INCEPTION OF A NEW DECADE, we have already seen evidence of a vital paradigm-shift. More attention has been given to problems like renewable energy, the necessary reduction of waste materials, and the healthcare system.
Now, in an era of booming pharmaceutical production that is fueled by the public belief that a pill could fix everything from high blood pressure to restless leg syndrome, researchers are finding that this confidence is unfounded.
In January, The Journal of the American Medical Association published the findings of a new study that tested the benefit of anti-depressants in comparison to a placebo for six weeks. Data from six other studies (718 patients) were included. Ultimately, they found that anti-depressants worked just as well as the placebo for patients with mild or moderate symptoms.
Considering that these medications are the most widely prescribed class of drugs in America (about 1 in 10 people over the age of six currently take them, and numbers are rising), it seems obvious we should seek alternative methods for treating depression.
The Alpha-Stim CES has been shown to improve depression 63 percent when compared to placebos in double blind studies, in sharp contrast to only 21 percent for drug treated groups.
If this alone does not stir interest in the enormous benefits of the Alpha-Stim, we need only to consider the long list of side effects on every anti-depressant label.
In addition to superior efficacy and safety, the one time price for the device is 25 to 50 percent of the cost for a year of SSRI therapy, and may be partially or completely reimbursable by insurance.
Cranial electrotherapy stimulation is based on the concept that the biophysics underlying the body’s biochemistry also plays a significant role in regulating brain process. CES treats depression by passing tiny electrical currents – similar to those found naturally in the body – imperceptibly through the brain. The micro-current, delivered in a unique waveform, moves electrons through the brain at a variety of frequencies, collectively known as harmonic resonance. This normalizes the electrical activity of the brain as measured by an electroencephalogram (EEG).
Think of 10 tuning forks tuned to the same note (or frequency). If you strike one of the forks, all of the others will start to vibrate together. This is resonance.
This same phenomenon occurs when frequencies are matched. So now imagine 10 tuning forks tuned to different notes in a chord. If you hit all of them at once, it creates an harmonic resonance.
Analogously, every cell in our body has a natural electrical balance whose frequencies are in an harmonic resonance. The cells can, however, be  imbalanced, when certain frequencies have weakened or become dissonant.
The concept behind the varied wave-form of the Alpha-Stim is that it mimics the natural harmonic resonance of our cells. So when the micro-current passes through the body, cells that have become imbalanced are stimulated into a natural bioelectric state. We therefore see improvements in neurochemical balance, such as increased serotonin and beta-endorphins levels when used on the brain, and an overall increase in ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) when used on the body and the brain.
